Commissions
Begin a piece that stays in the family.
A small number of private commissions each year. Subjects can be your own — a portrait, a memorial piece, a beloved garden — or drawn from the same wells the rest of the work draws from: myth, vanitas, the long stories.
The process
01
Conversation
We talk about the idea — the subject, the room it will hang in, the feeling you want to live with. No deposit yet.
02
Sketch & estimate
A loose graphite study and a written estimate. If it doesn't feel right, no further obligation.
03
Painting
Months of slow work in the studio. Progress photographs at midpoints. Adjustments while the paint is still open.
04
Delivery
Varnished, signed, and shipped — or hand-delivered if local. Documentation provided for insurance.
